CARFIELD FARM COMMUNITY GARDEN - ABOUT US

The Friends of Heeley & Meersbrook Allotments was formed in spring 2001 to contest plans that Sheffield City Council had at that time to sell the site known as Carfield Farm for housing development.  After successfully challenging the council we now have tenancy of the five allotments that make up the site.

When the site was taken over by the group we intended to plant up a small orchard with local fruit varieties and leave a large part of the site for a natural wildlife habitat - since then the project has taken off with the building of a large herb bed, rebuilding of all the drystone walls on site and the erection of a willow bird hide.
